U.S. Senate Recognizes Collector Car Appreciation Day - July 9th! - 2010-05-27 14:42:39
Thanks to the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) and the Automotive Restoration Market Organization (ARMO) Council, the US Senate has passed a resolution that July 9, 2010 be "Collector Car Appreciation Day.”
I'm sorry to say that my first thought was that they have more important things to be working on. Cold I know . . . but this economy has me pretty down right now.
But when I gave it a bit more thought I realized that it was a good thing for them to put some time into. If it gets a few more people down to the local autoparts shop, or out on a cruise night, it helps get more money into the economy. So please pardon me for my harsh initial response, get out your cool ride and enjoy it on July 9th! | Comment on this Blog entry
| Jimmy's Old Car Picnic - permit denied - Sign the online petition! - 2010-01-07 13:43:43
Jimmy's Old Car Picnic has been going on in Golden Gate Park for 22 years now. But maybe not for 2010. Turns out the Recreation and Park Department has turned down their permit. One reason is that it's hard on the grass. One of the catchers here is that Jimmy O'Keefe, the show organizer, was a gardener in Golden Gate Park for 35 years. If anyone knows the impact, Jimmy does - and he knows how to take care of a lawn.
One theory put out by the SF Examiner is that Rec and Park wants events that bring the department more money. The Picnic Blog also covers some other items that the department brought up - and pretty much shoots them down.
There are two ways you can help. First, please sign the online petition - even if you are out of the area. Second, comment on this post and suggest where else would work well for the picnic. Besides bringing a lot of diverse people together, these events bring a lot business to the areas they are held. If SF isn't going to play nice, perhaps some other town nearby should benefit . . . | Comment on this Blog entry
| Hot August Nights 2009 - 2009-08-13 15:41:28
Did anyone from our neighborhood attend Hot August Nights? I was lucky to be able to be part of the fun this year. I had a blast!
There were some beyond awesome hot rods. I heard there were approx, 5,500 hot rods entered in the event.
The weather was unusually cooler which made the event even better, in my opinion.
Who else from our neighborhood made to the event?
Have a good one............Lori | Comment on this Blog entry
